Fan Tokens: Chiliz launches the first blockchain dedicated to sport and entertainment

Chiliz, a leading company in blockchain solutions in the sports and entertainment industry, has launched Scoville, a network that will accelerate the development of fan tokens in sports.

Chiliz Chain 2.0 (CC2) will allow organisations and brands to create NFTs, Fan Tokens and other DeFi products, as well as Play2Earn games (play to win and loyalty and merchandising programs.

CC2 will be powered by the $CHZ token, which will be a big boost for the use of cryptocurrency, that, until now, was used only to buy and sell sports Fan Tokens on the platform. Now, the currency will be used by the new and multi-vertical ecosystem of Chiliz.

The launch of this test network is Chiliz’s most important milestone since the company revolutionized fan engagement in sport with the creation of Fan Tokens, and the launch of the app in 2019.

Since then, more than 130 sports organisations around the world use its blockchain technology to actively connect with their fans through Fan Tokens and the app, where sports lovers can participate in day to day activities of their favourite teams through surveys. Fans can enjoy exclusive promotions and discounts and win prizes and rewards for their participation.

Developed in collaboration with Ankr, a leading provider of decentralised infrastructure, the CC2 is EVM compatible and has gas fees up to 200 times cheaper than ETH.

The CC2 also offers high transactions per second (TPS), allowing developers to interact through smart contracts quickly and efficiently.

CC2 uses a PoSA (Proof-of-Stake Authority) model, which is estimated to be up to 200 times more energy efficient than Proof-of-Work, thus incentivising $CHZ owners to staking their tokens.

Organisations that have approval may include some of those that are already official partners of They will also be able to become validators, thus benefiting from the growth of the ecosystem and ensuring greater decentralisation.

CC2 is a secure, community-driven network-effect that will expand as Chiliz increases’ partner roster and incorporates other sports and entertainment organisations to create Web3-enabled products and blockchain services and experiences.

The current list of partners include: Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Napoli, Valencia, Atletico Madrid, Manchester City and Arsenal, 50 NBA, NHL and NFL franchises, as well as the UFC, Formula 1 teams and E-sports teams.

What does Dreyfus say?

“Thanks to our 130 partners and our relationship with the world’s largest exchanges, CC2 is already a great layer 1 blockchain,” said Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO of Chiliz and

“It is a secure network effect, supported by the community, in which our current partners and many more sports and entertainment brands will be able to create all kinds of products and services for the Web3 and everything is powered by $CHZ.”

“In many ways, this is the most important step forward of our project since the launch of the app in 2019 and is a giant step for the $CHZ token, which will be the most important blockchain currency in sport and entertainment.”
